BIOGRAPHY

Alexander Talbot Rice was educated at Stowe School, which he entered on a fine art scholarship. After Durham University, he gained a scholarship to the Charles Cecil School of Art in Florence where he studied classic portraiture for three years.

He studied two further years at the Academy of Florence, followed by two years at the Repin Academy in St Petersburg. He is one of the few Western Europeans to have studied at this academy, which has an almost mythical status amongst artists.

Learning classic methods from the veteran Russian painter Michael Michaelovich Pimanov, Alexander developed his own style - a unique fusion between the Florence and Russian techniques. His talent and craft soon became noticed and he began to receive commisions from all over Europe and the Americas.
